A Legacy of Innovation

For the past 50+ years, Fugro EarthData has been instrumental in the development and integration of emerging technologies for useful end-user applications. As early experimenters and users of airborne GPS, lidar, radar, and digital imaging technologies, our commitment to innovation has enabled us to take on some of the industry's most challenging and important projects, including:

  • The nation's first statewide color-infrared orthophoto mapping program for the State of Maryland.
  • The first commercial contract for digital orthophoto quarter quads for the US Geological Survey (USGS).
  • The mapping of a 120-kilometer corridor between the cities of Sarajevo and Gordaze for the US Navy in support of its effort to rebuild Bosnia's transportation infrastructure following the Yugoslav civil wars.
  • The delivery of lidar-derived, high-accuracy elevation data in support of the nation's first statewide floodplain mapping program for the State of North Carolina.
  • The development of a model for a nationwide National Guard Bureau mapping program to support military readiness and responsible environmental management.
  • The use of multiple airborne sensors to provide first-responders with rapid response mapping over Ground Zero following the September 11 terrorist attacks.
  • The first all-digital statewide mapping program for the USDA, delivering 1-meter DOQQs of Nebraska in less than 3 months.
  • The delivery of rapid response mapping to support recovery efforts following Hurricanes Wilma, Rita, Katrina and Ike.
